An original blend of East and West, built up from the earliest canvases.

East and West

The painting of Violeta Bázlik Králová took shape at a time when European art was a meeting point for impulses from both Eastern and Western Europe.

Studies

From her native Bulgaria she brought an almost Byzantine reading of painting, which during her studies in the intellectual atmosphere of Prague met the newest impulses of the German Neue Wilde and the Italian Transavantgarde.

A style of her own

Even in her earliest paintings she had found her own way, forming her own artistic position and building a distinctive style that is an original blend of East and West. From her studies she carried away a feeling for well-built composition and for the clarity and precision of defined shapes, which she knows how to accent with a sensitive but firmly drawn line.
